Brooke Deslouches is DRIVEN.

Migrating to the United States at the tender age of six from Port au Prince, Haiti, brooke is determined to be the first haitian supermodel under the 5’ 9”. 

Intrigued by music and fashion from a young age, Brooke would assist her uncle, who was a fashion designer, by clipping pictures of models from magazines, help tailor clothing, and sew dolls dresses on her sewing machine. 

Brooke idolized Audrey Hepburn and used her as a motivator to jumpstart her modeling and acting career. After entering her first pageant at 12 years old, Brooke has been determined to knock Kate Moss out of the top spot and take the world by storm.

Step 1

Brooke  started working behind the scenes for a boutiqe modeling agency and a fashion magazine.  Here, she learned all the tricks to the trade. Using her position to network herself with the best in the business, Brooke booked her first shoot with a magazine.

Brooke currently has two campaigns, one commercial, hosting/acting segments, and various amounts of magazine tears under her belt. Her success is a sharpened reflection of her dedication and hard work. It is also reflective of the importance of networking to propel anyone with a vision to the next step.

The Quality of Timelessness

Created by Oluwatobi Babajide, Tobi for short, and Jason Akoi of New Jersey, the brand’s motive is to exist eternally. The two designers are completely motivated by originality, careful not to use the word loosely, the name of the brand has manifested itself in the depths of an original heart, somewhat like DNA.

The blog reads as such, “The term, “herd”, can be applied metaphorically to human beings through the concept of herd behavior. A herd, for example, a group of sheep is usually called a flock. When an association of animals or people are described as a “herd”, the implication is that the group tends to act together (for example, all moving in the same direction, at a given time), however, this does not occur as a result of planning or coordination. Rather, each individual is choosing behavior that corresponds to that of the majority, either through imitation or because all are responding to the same external circumstances. Conversely, some human groupings may behave more like a herd, and flock behavior has become second nature. ”

With a firm belief in fashion consistency, these two college kids are doing quite well with their company. The anticipation for the release of their accessories is at an all time high. 

Through the release of their product, they hope to stimulate all people to create a unique style of their own, this can be achieved through the use of accessories. Under the brand, Tobi and Jason have designed a slew of quality and original pieces, such as Leather Book Bags, Leather Duffles, Scarves, Key Chain Wallets, Beanies, Watches, Bracelets, and much more!

Personally, I believe the proof is in the merchandise. Created with the finest leather, the bags are evidently top of the line. With reasonable prices for items of such quality, the line is sure to be a hit with people of all ages! The duffle is extremely suitable for an overnight trip, while the key chain wallets seem to be a trendy accessory for the young man.

The marketing on their brand has been phenomenal thus far, cant wait to see what drops and the success of the brand in the Spring of 2010!

Malika Romeo hails from Brooklyn, NY. She is the head designer and creator of the brand MUS by Mali Ro!

She has created some of the most exquisite pieces, using the most extravagant fabrics, correlating them with her classy and fun patterns. She has a gift for creating some of the trendiest pieces for the young miss.

Mali is the daughter of two parents prominent in the medical field, so her vision for her own fashion line took them by surprise! Mali attend the Wood Tobe-Coburn school and won several awards and competitions there for her designs! After interning for a few fashion designers, she realized the attention and dedication that accompanies owning your own fashion line. This is what started the infamous line, MUS by Mali Ro!

Although Malika has created some of the most beautiful pieces I have ever witnessed, she is also a talented hair dresser! Every little girl wants to be pretty, and Malika can make you just that :-*

Her articles of clothing have been featured on many blogs and websites. Women are also able to purchase some of her exclusive pieces in the Paperdoll Boutique, also in Brooklyn.

Malika has transformed her talent into a lucrative business profiting her in ways unimaginable! Her collections are beginning to be nationally recognized and have been getting a lot of hype around town.

Her noteworthy blog thrillsandthreads.com has been around for a long time and she is currently working on an additional website to advertise and sell her garments directly from her hand-made factory in her home in Brooklyn!

Are you popular?

Probably one of the easiest and unrecognized ways of making money is using who you know and catering to their nightlife endeavors.

This team of five young men: Gerry, Alec, Laquan, Moe, and Desean decided to use their popularity to their advantage. The team, entitled SPLASH ENTERTAINMENT, hosts parties catering to a crowd of 21 year olds and above at the trendiest night clubs in New York City.

After their initial promotion to the teen crowd, the boys realized that it is much easier to have successful parties with an older crowd. Their parties have attracted international disc jockeys, such as DJ Self, VH1 Reality Stars such as Ms. Doll, and many other local celebrities such as the up-coming rapper, Shakyah Hawkins.

Although this is not the only source of income for the young team, it seems to have served a profitable side stunt. Sometimes grossing an estimated $1,200 per party, it seems as if being the catalyst of a good time isn’t that bad of an idea.

The networking aficionados of SPLASH ENT have showed the entire NY that its completely* about who you know!

One of their most notable events was their summer barbeque in Cunningham Park where over 500 people were in attendance. The reviews were all positive, some stating, 
“This was the best bbq, with food, in a long time.”

The next big move for the team is the opportunity to not only play engagements for themselves, but to be the operators for event planning for other big venues. The possibilties are endless for this team!

Richard Parker on using your body as the foundation of expression like a canvas:

Rich was born on January 5th 1988, in Queens, NY. Most notable as a football star in my high school day, after he graduated Richard embarked on another talent that would make him even more popular and successful in his region.

Confessing that he has always had a love for drawing for his main mean of expression, Rich first recognized that his love for drawing could be transformed into personal income when he auctioned off one of his tattoo sketches to his friends in his neighborhood for $40.

Richard has definitely improved on his tattooing skills since he first started. Almost everyone I know has been to Rich for their tattoos. This is most certainly an accomplishment because for him to be as young as he is, he is well trusted and supported by his peers.

Richard also uses his passion for music to amplify his artistic abilities. The tattoo shop he works from his always booming with the sounds of urban music as he transforms blank canvases into mosaic pieces!

Richard uses the mentality of never settling to propel him to improving his skill and technique. He is an amazing artist and has a lot of potential to be one of the greatest tattoo artists of his time!

GIRL POWER!

iLOVE Lipstick&Labels

Founder Samantha Phagu started a blog entitled Lipstick&Labels, hiring her two bestfriends Daphne and Lexxie to completely her starting line-up. The blog was so successful, that Samantha decided to enhance her internet presence and transform the blog into an online magazine. 

I love the ultimate mission statement for the blog, which is women’s empowerment, declaring that women are bosses!

This 20 year old entrepreneur started off interning and recognized her love for fashion and connected it with something she loves. The ultimate vision for the online magazine is to promote young entrepreneurs, connecting them through posts of parties, and keeping the public informed on talents that may have regularly gone unheard of.

The three woman team is currently in the midst of becoming a registered PR FIRM where they publicize and cater to the entertainment market. Although these prominent young ladies seek to promote young entrepreneurs, I look at them as entrepreneurs myself, because they have created a well-known partnership for other people to form connections through.

The launch of their on online magazine is quite near and the next step in their chapter will soon be on its way!

This team of dynamic young men have found a way to unite the public by conjoining all of the things they love to do while entertaining, performing, and creating. Their catchy name has drawn people to grow and love the music they have created and has a slew of people wearing the comfortable fashions they have mustered up to represent their past and present.

Symbols and representatives of Far Rockaway, New York. This team’s mission statement, “People have to embrace the culture of being different and working towards what they want. ROCKSTAR SOCIETY moving from ” The Rock to the Top,” completely and thoroughly explains their sole purpose of engaging themselves with the public! Moving from the “rock”, the basis of foundation of all structures, to the top, “star” the declaration of success and achievement, Rockstar Society has been a hit on the streets and has plenty more in store for the future!

Sub-sections of the group cater to all different forms and niches of people. Of the many, the explosive group has created, RSNY Clothing, RSNY Films, and the RSNY Music Group.

These guys are a perfect representation of where hard work, networking, and a passion for perfecting your craft can get you!

It seems as if the youth of today have aspirations far beyond the office building. College dropout and attendance rates are plummeting…but where are all of these young individuals going? Creativity is at a maximum and entrepreneurship is taking over the minds of the youth in America! My recent recognition of my peers has landed me in a world swarmed with young entrepreneurs !
